"Now is your Time to Learn about Meaningful Communications"

We are excited to welcome La-Verna Fountain to our May membership meeting!

La-Verna Fountain is the founder of Meaningful Communications Matter LLC, a consulting and training firm focusing on bridging the divide of misunderstandings in the home, community, and workplace.  Central to La-Verna’s work is the facilitation of sacred listening sessions which provides an opportunity for people to connect in the vulnerable space of what it means to be a “human being”.

In 2018, she retired from Columbia University where she served as Vice President for Strategic Communications and Construction Business Initiatives.  While at Columbia, she designed and directed a variety of award-winning programs to train, and mentor Minority and Women owned businesses as well as creating a highly diverse workforce. She continues to serve as an instructor with Columbia’s School of Professional Studies and consults with several University departments on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.

La-Verna has an extensive community engagement history. She served as a Senior Advisor for the international child relief organization Save the Children, served in both republican and democratic administrations, and worked with community-based organizations throughout the United States. A U.S. Army veteran, La-Verna has an associate degree in Police Administration from Harrisburg Area Community College, a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Penn State University and Master of Science degree in Negotiations and Conflict Resolution from Columbia University.  She serves on several community boards and volunteers with Crossroads and Connections, a national network of diverse individuals who focus on four societal challenges: anti-gun violence, racism, mass incarceration/criminal justice reform and environmental justice.

La-Verna has been married for more than 40 years, has adult children and one large, spoiled German Shepherd. She can be reached at Hello@IAmLJFountain.com, IAmLJFountain.com.
