President's MessageWelcome to ABWA LAEN! Why would you want to be involved? I know we are all so busy. For me, I joined the Chapter before I left my very first meeting. I felt an instant connection with so many of the women that were there. Women who understood what it meant to juggle a household, juggle employees and a business, and juggle all the other things that women do and are involved in. I found ABWA to be a place of personal development, support, and acceptance. I immediately wanted to be connected and became a Corporate Partner, then volunteered for a committee, then joined the Board for several years in various roles, and now am serving as the President. Why did I become so involved? First, our purpose is clear and valuable. The mission of the American Business Women’s Association is to bring together businesswomen of diverse occupations and to provide opportunities for them to help themselves and others grow personally and professionally through leadership, education, networking support, and national recognition. Second, the immediate connections I’ve made. These are a group of supportive, caring and talented women. I wanted them in my life, and the advice, suggestions, friendship and business they have given me over the years cannot be measured. And finally, it’s fun and rewarding! For some connection, support, and most of all fun, try out Wine Wednesday, a Lunch & Learn, a Book Group or a monthly mini mixer at a member’s home or business. There’s something for everyone! Our theme this year is “Leading Women to Discover their Potential.” To discover that potential we need to learn new things, try new things and discover new things that will help each of us to succeed.
